It has been announced that Ohio will continue to determine direct care rates using RUGS IV for this biennium. Becuase of the MDS changes coming October 1, 2023, RUG case-mix scores may only be calculated using the Optional State Assessment (OSA). There has been state legislation that would allow providers to "freeze" thei case-mix scores for the biennium, eliminating the need for the OSA. Ohio Departement of Medicaid is working to develop an online reporting tool that would allow providers to submit their choice by the October 1 deadline.
